KALEN Human AcLDL is purified human LDL (d=1.019 – 1.063 g/mL), acetylated with acetic anhydride, purified, ultrafiltered and packaged aseptically under nitrogen. The product is provided in a solution with 154 mM NaCl and 0.34 uM EDTA, at pH 7.2. The protein concentration is 1.0 mg/mL. Purity is assessed by agarose gel electrophoresis. 		Kalen BioMedical

Kalen has developed stringent manufacturing protocols and QC tests to ensure that KALEN Human AcLDL has the same high quality from lot to lot. The quality of KALEN Human AcLDL is monitored by measuring amino group acetylation using the trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBSA) assay. The percentage of substitution as compared with native LDL is calculated. Typical results are depicted in the figure to the right.

Reproducibility of KALEN AcLDL

REM of several preparations of
KALEN Human AcLDL. Results are plotted
as a percentage of the mean.

Because of our proprietary manufacturing process, KALEN Human AcLDL is consistent from lot to lot. The results in the figure at left show relative electrophoretic mobility (REM) of several lots.

To check for unwanted lipid oxidation, preparations are analyzed using the TBARS assay. The results indicate that unwanted lipid oxidation during the manufacturing process is minimal (results not shown).
